To uninstall The Elder Scrolls Online users need to:

1. Click on Start, then Control Panel.
2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a Program.
   • In case users display Small or Large icons for the Control Panel, they need to find the entry for Program and Features instead and click on it.
3. Once the Programs and Features window appears, scroll down to find the entry for The Elder Scrolls Online, then double click on it.
4. Follow the prompts to uninstall the client.

Once the game is uninstalled, the following steps are needed to clean up any remaining files that may have been left lying around. Note: Following these steps will delete any screenshots you have stored in ESO directories.

1. Use Windows Explorer, navigate to C:Program Files (x86)ZenimaxOnline. This is where the game is stored by default.
   • If the game is installed in a custom location, use Windows Explorer to navigate there.
2. Delete all the folders that are listed here by clicking on the folder once, the pressing the [Delete] key on the keyboard. Click Yes when the confirmation window appears.
3. Once all the folders are deleted, all the open windows can be closed.
4. The folder C:Usersuser.nameDocumentsElder Scrolls Online should also be deleted.

Optional:

1. Users can also take this opportunity to run Disk Cleanup to make sure everything is cleaned up.
2. Go to Start-->All Programs, -->Accessories-->System Tools-->Disk Cleanup.
3. A small window will appear stating that it is scanning various items. This may take a few minutes depending on how much there is to scan.
4. Once it is finished scanning and the Disk Cleanup window appears, go down the list of items and ensure everything is checked.
5. Once everything is checked, click OK to run the cleanup. This will most likely take several minutes.

Now that the game is uninstalled, users can get the game reinstalled. To do so they need to go to their account page at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/login and sign in, then click the Download Game button. Once downloaded, the installer can be used as before. Please note that players must make sure to install both DirectX and the C++ Run Time at the end of the installation.

Once you have created your character and completed the in-game tutorial, it is time to take your very first steps into the open world of Tamriel, and there are some simple things you can do to jump right into the game. Most importantly, understand that you can explore Tamriel at your own pace. You can go anywhere and do anything you like -- there is no “right' way to play!

For starters, take the time to get used to how the game controls (with either the keyboard and mouse or controller). You can find the complete controls and keybindings here. Next, look for non-player characters (NPCs) and interact with them to learn their stories and complete some quests for XP and loot.

Finally, explore outside of the towns and take on some monsters. We will provide more information about combat later, but try out your regular attacks (Light and Heavy Attacks), defensive moves (Blocking, Dodging), and abilities, and don't forget to collect and equip your well-earned rewards!

The Elder Scrolls Online is a world without limits, meaning you can play how you want to play. Are you a solo player at heart? There's an epic main story that's sure to grab your attention. Want to group up? Join a Guild, party up, and take on a host of challenging group activities such as dungeons, world bosses, and more. And that's just scratching the surface of what's in store.
